Woman teacher, 27, who had sex with 17-year-old pupil is spared prison and handed community order

A teacher who was caught having sex with a teenage pupil in a layby has been spared jail and given a six month community payback order.

Eppie Sprung Dawson, 27, picked up the 17-year-old pupil in Dumfries and drove to a secluded spot between Cummertrees and Hoddam where they had sex in the front seat of her car, a court heard.

But the pair were discovered by patrolling police officers who noticed the parked car.

Earlier this year, Dawson admitted that on December 21 last year, while she was in a position of trust and being the teacher of the youth, she engaged in sexual activities with, or directed towards, a person under the age of 18 and that she had sexual intercourse with him.

Today she was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' register for six months and will be placed under the supervision of social workers for the same length of time.

Agent David Finnie said Dawson had undergone four sessions of counselling and had another 12 to complete and he added that it had become clear that there was counselling available for her and she had willingly taken this up on her own.

Mr Finnie said she had undergone four sessions and she was finding it beneficial. 

He suggested that the whole matter be cleared up so that she could do what was necessary to get on with her life.

'This was a case of breach of trust rather than any form of abuse. I would suggest that the community payback order might be sufficient,' he said.

Last month Sheriff George Jamieson told her that but for her being a teacher, she would not be facing a charge because the pupil would have been the age of consent. He told her that she had breached a position of trust.

Mr Finnie described Sprung Dawson as a gifted, talented and committed teacher who was dedicated to her job. 

Dawson taught at St Joseph's College in Dumfries and had earlier agreed to give the dyslexic teenager extra lessons.

But she had thrown all this away and in addition to wrecking her career, her marriage had been wrecked.

She was married to Ranald Dawson, 32, son of former Solicitor General for Scotland Lord Dawson.

Dumfries Sheriff Court heard that Dawson's career was in ruins and the tryst had ended her marriage with husband Ranald

Sheriff Jamieson who ordered Dawson to return to court on September 18 for updated reports said it was important to address the criminal side of the charge but it was encouraging that she was benefitting from counselling.

He hoped that the social workers could add to the therapy.

Dawson is no longer employed by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

White, who had never before stated who her abuser was, told us her former brother-in-law made her life hell when she was a young teenager.
"I was 14 years old, I never talked about who my abuser was," she told E! "It was my brother-in-law, my sister's ex-husband. For the first time I realized I kept it a secret for so long, but why when people weren't protecting me?" she said. "At 17, I told my older sister and asked her not to say anything, to not tear my family apart."

White says life at home was so hellish, she'd punch holes in the wall in order to deal with the secret she was carrying.
"I hated going home, I had holes in my wall, it was the worst situation that a child could ever be in," she said. "It was a very dark situation that I came from. But God used something very evil into something every powerful and beautiful. I don't want any other young girl to feel like it's their fault. The majority of the time it's caused by someone that you know."
The Sports Illustrated beauty says that she's turned into a "warrior" on the topic, and that she thinks it's her calling to help others that have gone through the same situation.
"This is my mission in life, I've actually lived it," she said. "When you think about that, you see why I'm very passionate about it. We may not be able to stop sexual abuse but we can minimize the stress intake. How I feel today, I truly believe if we team up and we can stop sexual abuse, we can prevent some pedophile from taking some girl's innocence."

White's foundation donated the money raised Sunday to UNICEF's City of Joy Program, which provides nearly 200 women between the ages of 14 and 35 with psychotherapy and an extensive training program offering literacy, economics and sexuality education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Victoria's Secret model's next step for victims is to take her message to the Internet. "I'm teaming up with other women and teenagers and we're gonna do a YouTube campaign, along with Gabrielle [Union] who also was sexually abused," she tells us. "We're all partnering together, and we're fighting to stop this altogether."

Audition Show 1 Of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT Season 6 On Air Today

It’s Season six of the glorified THE GONG SHOW now called AMERICA’S GOT TALENT and it hasn’t gotten any better from the first time I watched it five seasons ago. It still is painfully droll and boring. Most of the “so called” talent is lame and, just like AMERICAN IDOL, simply there for shock purposes in these early audition rounds  – in other words it’s so bad it’s good. The only problem – you have to find this kind of TV programming to find this kind of a train wreck entertaining.
Nick Cannon comes off as an affable host of the contest that offers up a $1 million prize, especially compared to the talent that surrounds him. Cannon looks really good. Judges Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel are back showing their strengths as critical and comedic judgers for the show and yet for more than half the show they are the only talent shown. Even with the in between video segments giving tidbits of who these new contestants are and where they came from, the show falls flat. Nobody cares because nobody knows these people.
With “Audition Show #1”, occasionally some actual talent is showcased between the dribble. Three young boys (5,6,7) showed their rapping skills and cute appeal and easily got through to the next level – Las Vegas. Team iLuminate, a dance group in fluorescent glow in the dark lighting, were by far the most talented of the bunch. Unfortunately, we had to wait two hours to see them since they ended the show. They, too, are moving on to Las Vegas. As for the rest, yeah, a couple of magicians are moving on including an impressive Latin dance group is as well and a juggler who juggles stun guns while standing in water. That’s pretty death defying, but not very engaging once you get over the shock value of it all.
Ala AMERICAN IDOL many were there to make a fool of themselves and to do it in front of millions of Americans for fun. Some didn’t understand why they didn’t get through and copped a little attitude. Another actually fell off the stage attempting to “dance.” Are these people for real? I am not sure. I don’t care and I desperately miss DANCING WITH THE STARS where people wanted to do well and  are not there to make a fool of themselves intentionally. It seems with AGT the joke is on America. Now somebody please get rid of this show! If I had a big X buzzer I would be pounding on it for AMERICA’S GOT TALENT to exit the stage. Oh, if only.

There is nothing harder than trying to explain the appeal of Sarah Palin to those who just don’t get it. The governor is launching a bus tour of historic parts of America that commentators say is a promo for a presidential campaign. First stop: the annual Rolling Thunder motorbike ride in Washington DC. To some, the thought of a presidential candidate burning rubber with “scooter trash” is incredibly cool. To others, it is tacky and inappropriate. The response is conditioned by different cultural values. That’s why the Palin mystique is so indefinable and controversial. Voting for her isn’t a rational act: it’s a motion of the gut.
Most Europeans and liberals find the governor repellent. Maureen Dowd’s joke that “Caribou Barbie is one nutty puppy” encapsulates their myriad complaints: Sarah Palin is stupid, mad, childish, ridiculous and bad for feminism. Critics say that she was plucked from obscurity and given the Vice Presidential nomination to steal women voters from Obama, that there is nothing “maverick” about her. To them, she is a Republican electoral gimmick that has gained a terrifying life of its own.
But for every liberal who hates Sarah Palin, there is a conservative who adores her. Although she ticks all the right boxes on policy, the relationship is empathetic rather than ideological. To anyone who has experienced the lash of snobbery, Palin is a soul mate. Few politicians have ever been so quickly and violently thrust into the spotlight, strip-searched for scandal, humiliated and tortured by the media. The governor has been called a liar, a thief and a simpleton. Serious papers like The Guardian are still speculating about the parenthood of her youngest child, like Palin was a toothless guest on Jerry Springer. Yet what is refreshing about the governor is the very ordinary nature of her problems – a teenage pregnancy and a rogue son-in-law. All the copy about her bumpkin foibles only emphasises how real she is, and how distant and vague Obama seems in comparison.
The media’s dissection of Sarah Palin has discredited her in some quarters, but in others created a modern martyr. She seems convolutely (and sometimes inarticulately) careful about what she is saying, and to whom, is because she is terrified of misquotation. She has made some dumb remarks. But nobody who rises from librarian to governor of Alaska is an idiot; at least, they can be intelligent without being intellectual. To some, it seems that those trifling matters about which she has been accused of ignorance (where is Russia, what is Africa?) are the sort of things that only concern liberal arts professors anyway. They are certainly far less significant than the price of gas or the contents of Matthew 24.

Dan Wheldon is a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner. He's also — at least for the moment — out of a job.

"I'm sure I'll be changing diapers by tomorrow," Wheldon said with a laugh after his stunning last-lap pass of rookie JR Hildebrand sent him to Victory Lane at the Brickyard.

Wheldon was smiling when he said it, but he wasn't kidding.

The 500 is the only race he's under contract for this season, and even the addition of a second Borg-Warner trophy to his collection doesn't mean the phone is guaranteed to start ringing off the hook anytime soon.

He's aware more than most how delicate the economy is these days. He tried to court new sponsors when his contract with Panther Racing wasn't renewed over the winter. He thought he had a deal in place to join a new team in January, but it fell through at the last minute.

Rather than take a ride with a team he didn't believe could be competitive on a weekly basis, the Englishman opted to stay at home with his wife and two young children.

"Do I sit and home and think, 'It'd be great to be out there? Absolutely,'" Wheldon said. "But it's all I can do."

Even the title "two-time Indy winner" might not be enough to get Wheldon any more work this year, though his performance put an exclamation point on a month that saw upstart teams hang with the deep-pocketed big boys at Target Chip Ganassi Racing and Team Penske.

Hi guys you know your ideal singer Sean Kingston was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Sunday night after he crashed into a bridge while riding his personal watercraft.
Local 10 News in Miami, Florida is reporting that around 6 p.m. ET the “Beautiful Girls” singer and a female passenger crashed into the bridge which connects Miami’s Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway.
Miami Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and rushed Kingston to Jackson memorial where he is now. A spokesman with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Local 10 that Kingston and his female passenger “needed medical attention.”
According to Local 10 News the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but thus far it doesn't seem that alcohol played a part in the accident.
TMZ is reporting that Kingston is being treated in the trauma ward and is in critical condition. MTV has not been able to confirm this information.
An unnamed rep for the singer issued this statement to TMZ: "Sean Kingston was in an accident today. No further details are available at the moment. He and his family thank everyone for the well-wishes."
