Promoter of the Zarfest tour featuring Ciara, Timbaland, Fat Joe, Lil Kim and DJ Scratch, Kenny Kunene, who is also owner of one of South Africa’s leading night spots, Zar Lounge, said he would soon open a club under the Zar franchise in Zimbabwe.
“Zimbabwe has become my second home and South Africa needs to celebrate this country more than any other country. This was our home during the liberation struggle and they contributed so much to the liberation of South Africa,” said Kunene.
He added that as a way of giving back to Zimbabweans, he was going to open a club similar to the ones he owns in South Africa.
“Zar is here to stay and we are going to have a Zar in Zimbabwe. Every concert we will host in South Africa, we will bring it down to Zimbabwe as this is my second home,” said Kunene.
Kunene, who also attended the Akon and Sean Paul concert which was held in Harare last year, admitted that he was impressed with the turnout at the show.
He added that he would ensure that Zarfest leaves lasting impressions in the country.
“I give people maximum effort in whatever I do. Zimbabweans should gear up for a memorable show,” said Kunene.
One of the organisers from South Africa explained that tickets to the Zarfest concert were highly priced because of the quality of the event.
“If you buy a Corolla, you know what to expect from it but if you buy a Mercedes Benz, you also know the value in it. So that is the case with our pricing of the Zarfes
